PTE Academic is the world’s leading computer-based test of English for study abroad and immigration. Typically, PTE Academic results are available within five business days. To complete a PTE Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions. During the three-hour test session, there are three main parts to the test i.e. Speaking and Writing (together), Listening and Reading. There is also an optional 10-minute break between the reading and listening parts. During the test, you will find twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information. PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic English, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the type of accents you will encounter in everyday life. PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of universities worldwide, including prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, INSEAD and Yale. PTE Academic is also accepted for visa purposes by the Australian and New Zealand governments. Now, PTE is also acceptable in many colleges and Universities in Canada for higher education purposes.

Like IELTS, PTE (Pearson Test of English) consists of two modules:
  • PTE Academic (applicable in Top Universities & Colleges)
  • PTE General (for acquiring good jobs)
  • PTE is acknowledged by almost all the big universities of United States and United Kingdom. PTE is basically a Computer based test and it is a perception by some that it is easier than IELTS.   • Test Modules: The test structure is broadly divided into four sections that are further distributed into 3 parts. The different and essential sections as mentioned above are:

  • Three skills (Speaking, Writing and Reading) are evaluated through computer system, while in the listening test, the voice of the applicants are duly recorded in a way to make the examination, error-free.

    PTE SCORING :

    All items in PTE Academic are machine scored. Scores for some item types are based on correctness alone, while others are centered on correctness, formal aspects and the quality of your response.

    Type of Scoring in PTE :
    There are two types of scoring –
    Correct or Incorrect:

    Some item types are scored as either correct or incorrect. If you responses to these items are correct, you will receive the maximum score points available for each item type. If your responses are incorrect, you will receive no score points.

    Partial Credit:

    If your responses to these items are correct, you will receive the maximum score points available for each item type. If you will receive same score points and if you responses are incorrect you will receive no score points.
